"Magical Butterflies" Exhibition at the Museum of Nature and Environment

  • 13.03.2015

Hundreds of beautiful butterflies from all over the world will delight the connoisseur’s eye.

There are about 158,000 species of butterflies of different size, color, and shape in the world. The exhibition shows a variety of butterflies and moths: poisonous and completely harmless, pests and very useful ones for humans. Here you will see the inhabitants of the tropics and in the northern forests, mountains and swamps, in the Arctic and the deserts of Africa.

Beauty and grace of butterflies made them one of the few insects that do not disgust humans. Almost all the world’s nations have myths and legends about the butterflies. Perceptions of them are associated with the most important concepts for a man: life and death, love and happiness.

But not only butterflies are admirable and noticeable. Beetles of surprisingly various size, appearance, and color can surprise you as well.

The exhibition will feature unusual animals like bird spiders, giant scorpion, locusts, grasshoppers, and others.

Exhibits belong to the private collection of Ramazan Makhmudov (Viciebsk).

The exhibition aims to spread biological and aesthetic knowledge and will be interesting for both children and adults.

The exhibition will run from 12 February to 23 May 2015
