“China: Then and Now. Historical and modern Chinese architecture” exhibition

On January 16, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus will host a presentation of the exhibition of artistic photographs “China: Then and Now. Historical and modern Chinese architecture”. The exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese culture has made a huge contribution to world civilization. Philosophy, painting, poetry of China had a significant impact on the cultures of different countries – from Europe to America and Asia. One of the most significant achievements of Chinese culture has become architecture, the development of which has been going on for more than 4,000 years. Unique buildings, bridges, gardens and parks of China have a unique appearance, embodying both practicality and aesthetics. In the 21st century, Chinese architects continue age–old traditions, creating their works with the help of modern technologies and materials.

Photos for the exhibition were made in Beijing and Shenzhen in 2017. The author of the works is Sardarov Armen Sergeevich, architect – scientist, architect – practitioner, photographer, author of many books and articles, architectural works, among which is the memorable sign “The Beginning of Belarusian Roads” in Minsk, the sculptural composition “Maci – Pastauschyna” in Postavy, sculptural the composition "Holy Mother" in Molodechno and others.

5 photo albums were published with his works, including “Golden Belts of Belarus”, “Poetry of the roads”, “Matsi – Zämlya”. His exhibitions were held at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Palace of Arts, the House of Friendship, BNTU. The main themes of the photographs are Belarusian nature, roads, architecture.

The exhibition project was organized with the support of the Belarusian National Technical University and the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of the Belarusian National Technical University. The main mission of the institute is to promote the growth of understanding of China and Chinese culture, the development of friendly relations of China with other countries. The institute holds joint forums, competitions, exhibitions, which contributes to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between China and Belarus.

The exhibition works from 10th to 20th January 2019.
