Masters of Montparnasse from Belarusian townships

On September 21, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus launches the "Masters of Montparnasse from Belarusian townships" exhibitions.

The exhibition presents works from private Belarusian collections, including the world–famous Belarusian artists of the School of Paris: Marc Chagall, Schraga Zarfin, Osip Lubich, Osip Tsadkin, Robert Genin, Eugene Zak, Mikhail Kikoin and Pinchus Kremen. Some of the works are shown for the first time. The art of the masters of Montparnasse began and the middle of the 20th century, collectors have shown sustained interest for 100 years, since the end of the First World War, when the works of these artists in Paris began to acquire marshals who played a prominent role in the "art market" in the early 20th century and thanks to which in those years became known for the names of many now famous artists.

Creativity of the masters of the School of Paris, uniting countries and people, their artistic traditions, clearly demonstrates the importance of the place that our country occupies in the all–European culture.

You will see 100 works of various genres, dated from 1915 to the 1970s, performed in different techniques of painting and graphics in the exposition. For a deeper understanding of the exposition, the visitors are offered an unique educational program from lectures by Belarusian and foreign researchers of the School of Paris, as well as a series of documentary films about artists.

The works presented at the exhibition will help better understand these artists, their attitude to life and death, their idea of happiness, love, sorrows and joys of Human being. Visitors will be presented with a wide range of directions of classical modernism of the XX century: Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism.
