BELARUS AND BELARUSIANS. HISTORY AND CULTURE GUIDE

The National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus presents the “BELARUS AND BELARUSIANS. HISTORY AND CULTURE GUIDE" exhibition project.

Belarus is a sovereign country with a millennial past, with glorious and dramatic pages. The national traditions are carefully preserved and inspired by the best achievements of world civilization with some reimagining.

Do you know when the first people appeared on our lands? When did writing come to Belarus and in what alphabet was it written? And the fact that our land is a country of castles and countless treasures? What did our ancestors wear, what does the national cuisine consist of and how do the “voices” of Belarus sound? ..

The “Belarus and Belarusians. History and Culture Guide” exhibition project tells about the main stages of the historical development of Belarus, gives a brief description of the cultural heritage, presents the Belarusian people as an integral part of the world community, helps to understand what Belarus is and who Belarusians are.

The project invites you to go on an exciting journey, remember important dates, be inspired by our heritage, and literally touch history through interactive elements.

The exhibition consists of two parts - "History" and "Culture". The first one shows the fateful events, the main processes, stages of the historical development of Belarus (from ancient times to the present day); the second reflects certain topics dedicated to the peculiarities of the original Belarusian culture.

The project is being implemented in accordance with the grant of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Culture for 2021.

Project partners: Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, National Historical Archives of Belarus, Belarusian Telegraph Agency, Department for Elimination of Consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster, National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Museum of Fire and Emergency Rescue, Museum of Nature and ecology, Museum of the History of Theater and Musical Culture, photographers Anna Kipel, Anatoly Andreev.

The exhibition project will run until the end of 2021.
